Increasing morale among land management personnel and promoting understanding from the public we serve.
Our Mission
The MULS Origin Story
The Multiple Use Land Service (MULS) is a fictional federal agency founded in 2026 by people who have spent too long in real federal land management agencies. Born from too many years in actual federal service, MULS is a love letter to America's public lands and the dedicated, well-meaning, occasionally exasperated people who manage and use them — delivering original parody that can only be appreciated by those who have lived the experience.
The idea started, as most good ideas do, in a meeting. Specifically, a meeting about a meeting that was scheduled to discuss the agenda for an upcoming meeting. Somewhere around the third hour, the founders realized that the absurdity of modern bureaucracy had finally outpaced anyone's ability to satirize it — and that the only honest response was to create an agency represented by a mule.
Our Mascot & Logo
The mule is our mascot because mules are stubborn, hardworking, and possess a quiet dignity in the face of the absurd. As half-asses, they solidly represent the MULS approach to land management.
Our logo is written in the language of vintage agency badges, outdoor aesthetics, and gentle institutional satire.
